The DC Chapter, ACS would like to invite you to become a member of one of the most progressive and active chapters in the country! It's your membership that will continue to let the Chapter focus on important issues facing DC-area surgeons.
With your DC Chapter membership you will receive outstanding member benefits such as E-News, our monthly email which features articles on current topics, member news, and event information. Members also have access to a newly designed DC Chapter website with a completely new look, streamlined navigation, and special areas for surgeons and consumers, as well as an online expanded membership directory.
Introduced as a member benefit to boost the awareness of DC Chapter Fellows, the "Find a Surgeon" feature is available on the front page of the DC Chapter website. Using this feature affords all visitors to the website the ability to locate a surgeon in their area. As the DC Chapter, ACS is a common source for DC surgery inquiries, what better place to find a surgeon who takes their profession seriously? It is our hope that this new feature will act as a big benefit that will manifest itself in patient referrals and giving our fellows a leg up on non-member DC-area surgeons.
Types of Membership
The following is a list of our current membership categories and its related affordable pricing, with a brief description of each category.
Fellow - $150
Must have met all of the requirements and been formally admitted into Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons.
Associate Fellow - $100
Must be recognized by the American College of Surgeons as an Associate Fellow.
Affiliate - $150
Non-FACS Physicians, Allied Health Care Professionals, and Nurses.
Retired - $50
Must have been granted retired status by the American College of Surgeons.
Resident - $0
Surgical residents and surgeons in research or surgical fellowship programs who meet the American College of Surgeons requirements for participation.
Medical Students - $0
Medical students in accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical schools, who meet meet the American College of Surgeons requirements for participation.
What kind of services and benefits are available to you as a chapter member? Please click on your membership type below to find out everything you'll receive as a member of the chapter.
The membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. Members paying dues during the membership year will receive percentage off of their next year's annual dues. Specifically, a surgeon applying for membership during the year will receive the following:
A discount certificate to apply to dues for the following membership year
- After July 1, 50% off certificate for the following year
- After October 1, 75% off certificate for the following year
Certificate must be enclosed with the following year's renewal and is non-transferable. Certificates will be treated the same as cash and the DC Chapter is not responsible for lost or stolen certificates. The certificate will expire of February 28 of each year.
How to Join
For your convenience, DC Chapter offers a secure online membership process. To access the online application, simply CLICK HERE! and follow these simple instructions:
|Joining online is easy! On the Login Screen, select "Need to set up a new account?". Enter your email address and click Log In. From that page, create your account by entering your login and password, contact information, and communication preferences.
After submitting your user information, you will be directed to the User Menu. Select #2 "Join DC Chapter, ACS". Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your membership registration.
Once you have completed registering your membership online, you will receive two confirmations. The first confirmation will be your online confirmation. This confirmation will contain a summary of your online application and your member confirmation letter. The second confirmation will be your online credit card receipt. Please print both emails and keep them for your documentation.

3. Send it to the DC Chapter Executive Office by mail or fax:

To become a member, please complete the 2013 DC Membership Application and return it with payment to the address or fax number on the application form. Once the Executive Office has processed your membership, your confirmation letter and password for the Members Only section of the website will be mailed to you.
